What film based on one of your favorite books did you hate?

And what film based on a book did you love?

The film based on a book that I hated the most was Captain Corelli's mandolin. Friends who saw the film without reading the book really liked it, but I hated it as it had a completely different ending to the book!|||Timeline. I love the book by Michael Chricton, but the movie is absolutely terrible... couldn't even sit through it!|||I loved the "Lord of the Flys" book and movie. I hated the "Doom" movie though, it wasn't based off a book though, it was based off a video game.|||I Am Legend.|||Hate might be too strong a word, but I found the Chronicles of Narnia a disappointment. It was weak on the theological message that was a strong part of his book (CS Lewis).

The Lord of the Rings was done excellently and followed Tolkien's ideas very well.|||Quite a few films change the ending of a book - Great Expectations starring John Mills is a good example - I suppose if it encourages people to read the book afterwards then maybe it's a good thing.|||i am always really disappointed in the harry potter films

and i loved the new prince caspian movie but i got reall angry with the focus on the relationship between susan and prine caspian, which is non-existant in the book :-s hollywood throws a love story into everything!

xoxo|||what I always find is that when I have read a book and then watch a film based on it, I always get annoyed when in the film it does not go as it does in the book or they dont put some of the good bits from the book into the film.

An example would be P.S I Love You- i did not hate the film loved it actually but found it annoying that they removed some of the good bits from the book|||One of my favorite books is Watchers by Dean Koontz %26amp; the movie made of it was absolute rubbish, had almost nothing to do with the book. I'm also a big Stephen King fan %26amp; I don't think most of his books translate well to films.|||A couple years ago, a movie was made of Sahara by Clive Cussler. I refuse to watch it, based solely on the fact that one of the main characters was horribly mis-cast. I heard that there were other things that went wrong, but I don't plan on finding out . . .|||Eragon...the book was a very detailed interetesing read...the movie was turned into some cheesey action film with a lot of over acting...so dissapointing and it did horrible in theaters.|||The movie version of Maeve Binchy's Circle of Friends totally changed the ending, thereby rendering the message of the book (which was a much more positive message for women) meaningless.|||Eragon was absolutely horrendous! The book was pretty decent, and could have been made into an excellent film without a lot of work, but the filmmakers completely ruined it, to the point of cutting out characters and facts that would have played a crucial role in the sequel (ie, they cut out Roran in Eragon, cause he didn't have a big role, but half of Eldest is about him!).|||Dune movie really didn't do the book justice

AI was based on a short story, so it took a lot of work to get it to keep the message|||The fifth Harry Potter. If you hadn't read the book, it probably wouldn't make sense.

♥/\/\♥|||It wasn't my fave book but I thought queen of the damned could have been way better than what it was. As fans of books we expect the movie to be exactly how we read or picture it in our minds. They rewrote some of the story, some of the actors did not fit or look like the characters they portrayed and it was set in the wrong decade. My friend and I spent the whole time in the theater dissecting it and saying what was wrong with it. Stuart townsand did a good job as lestat and aaliyah was good but I was disappointed.
